Dear Friend of Poco,

We hope you've had a safe and fun summer so far. Can you believe it's August already?

Poco is hosting some interesting events and happenings in the next few weeks.

--- Thomas Park photography show - Friday August 15, 6pm - 9pm
Starting next week, come and enjoy the photography of Seattle artist Thomas Park. For one month we will showcase his work Awake/Asleep at Poco. You can meet the artist next Friday from 6pm-9pm. Here is what Thomas says about his series Awake/Asleep:

"The photographic work called Awake/Asleep is a quiet, wistful expression of the sleeping world around us - the forgotten places which grew from our collective dreams and desires; the discarded engines of our commercial and industrial past. Many of the photographs are abandoned large-scale industrial complexes."

Bring a friend or loved one to enjoy this expressive showing of photography. An event to put on your calendar!

--- Softball World Series Week - August 22 - 30
For the past two years Poco Wine Room has sponsored its own softball team that plays in one of the largest gay/lesbian/straight softball leagues in the country. During the last week of August, Seattle is the host city for the 2008 Softball World Series. Approximately 4000 people from all over the country will be visiting Seattle that week to participate. Our team, Seattle Poco, is playing in the series - a great accomplishment, and we're proud of them!

On Thursday August 28th, Poco will be hosting a wine reception from 5pm - 630pm for the national Hall of Fame inductees. This is a private event, so Poco will be opening a little later than usual that Thursday.

All through the week many softball players will be visiting Poco, so it will be a lot of fun to see these out-of-towners checking out our wine bar! This is a great week for you to come and hang out at Poco, too.

Peter himself plays on the team, too. He's not that old yet! You can find out from Peter when the games are and come cheer Seattle Poco to victory!

--- Wine Tastings in September
We're currently finalizing plans with two wineries for tastings in September. More news to come! One is a boutique Washington winery and the other is a winery from Chile. Fantastic wines from both wineries!

--- Have Your Own Private Event at Poco!
Poco is available for Saturday night Private Events. After 9pm, you can rent and reserve the upstairs portion of Poco. If you're looking for a space to host a birthday party or another celebration, contact us and Peter will work with you to make your event a great success. Prices are based on a case by case basis. We offer event food platters for bigger groups. As well, as wine specials. So, book your next special event at Poco. A great spot for celebrating!

 

And of course, we've got some new and yummy wines to taste. We'll see you next time you drop by. Until then, may the joys of summer bring a smile to the faces of all those you love.
